The lark sparrow (Chondestes grammacus) is a fairly large New World sparrow. It is the only member of the genus Chondestes.

Key Habitat Features
Open habitats with scattered trees and bushes, grasslands with a shrub component and sparse litter, parklands, sand hills, cultivated and old field habitats, woodland edges, riparian areas.
Nest on the ground or close to the ground (in shrubs, saplings and small trees) among sparse woody vegetation.
Objectives
Minimize disturbance during the breeding season.
Maintain nesting habitat throughout all seasons.
Maintain desired plant communities and key habitat features.
