Environmental Management

The BC Energy Regulator (BCER) is committed to protecting British Columbia’s natural environment through the Environmental Protection and Management Regulation (EPMR). This regulation outlines requirements for the protection of wildlife, wildlife habitat, old growth management areas, streams, rivers, wetlands, groundwater, aquifers, and other key environmental values.

EIMS provides clear objectives, identifies key habitat features, and outlines planning and operational measures that align with the province’s environmental objectives. Guidance in EIMS is standardized to support consistent practices across the industry. For further detail, consult the Environmental Protection and Management Guideline (EPMG).

Ungulate Winter Ranges (UWRs)

EIMS provides summaries for UWRs in Northeast BC (NEBC).

Wildlife Habitat Areas (WHAs)

EIMS also includes summaries for WHAs in Northeast BC (NEBC).
